Help!

My Muscovy duckling is a few days old and today I noticed it has a hard round lump a little bigger than a pea on its underside- anybody know what it could be? None of my other ducklings have this and I'm freaking out a little

It could be a cancer or tumor

I'll post a picture soon, I've just had a look and its really red around the area and his fluff looks like it's been worn away- and It kind of feels like it's spreading because it's not a little ball anymore it's really hard to explain but it feels like there's more lumps sort of, maybe be intestinal blockage? If so, is there anything I can do??
I've only had him for two days, I feel like such a failure :/

I really don't know, but I will "tag" more people that might be able to help. Use the @ symbol in front of user names to tag. If the text turns blue, you tagged correctly. The tag alerts members to the specific post. These other people will have more questions and will definitely want pictures.

Please describe the duckling's environment.
What are you feeding the baby?
Where did you get the duckling?
Do you have more than one duckling?

Have you seen the little one poop? most of the time if intestinal blockage they can't poop and it's called pasting up.If you have a way of keeping the place you do this warm, you might try putting the duckling in some nice warm water just deep enough it can sit in it. usually the warm water will make them go poop. see if that helps but just leave it in for a few minutes then wrap in a towel and gently towel dry or use very low setting on the blow dryer careful not to burn the baby. and please fill us in on all the questions Debs flock asked. also look at the vent[bottom] of your duckling is it normal or crusty? look swollen have you see it eating and drinking. How is it acting?A pic would be a very good thing..

And please your not a failure things happen at times out of our control but we maybe able to help.

I got them at a breeder, and there are 10 of them- although the not all the same ages, I have two six week olds, one three week old, three one week olds and four that are under a week old- the one with the lump is one of the littlest.
He acts fine and plays along, is eating and drinking fine heaps too. I haven't really seen him poop but I haven't really been watching for it- I'll be doing that though.
At the moment I have them all in a little side garden that has grass and mulch around a couple of plants (it was meant to be a cat run but the cat doesn't use it) the youngest 7 only go out there during the day for a couple of hours though, but the bigger ones are a bit too big for my bathroom which is where they go once it starts cooling down.
I also take them all out to the kids pool I have set up in the back yard during the hottest part of the day and then let them have a wander and forage in the grass while I water.
The youngest 7 also get starter crumbles which are always available to them, and water which is also available at all times. And when they go out to the pool/wander I like to treat them with some grated veg- lettuce/cabbage/mesclun mix/peas and corn(defrosted).
It's vent looks fine? As far as I can tell (there's a lot of fluff and i didn't really want to go poking around just incase I hurt it) it's not crusty or swollen from what I can see.

The area looks so red and sore, I feel awful for the little one.

I just scanned quickly over the thread - it looks like it could be omphalitis, and that is life-threatening.

Can you get to a vet? I apologize if I missed this - I just want to respond quickly now that I'm online.

Is it very warm? The bumps could just be the bases of feathers. I am thinking out loud, here. Irritation? Feather pulling?

Good that he or she seems active. Eating and drinking and pooping, yes?

If I recall correctly, ducklings do have navels and sometimes they get infected - that's omphalitis.

And sometimes I toss out the possibility of something serious because if it is, then help is needed right away. It requires antibiotics, I believe.

All I see is redness no stump or infection but my eyes aren't as good as they use to be. Do you have any antibiotic ointment? that may bring some comfort. What is the blk thing down further on it's body? and lets see if we can get @casportpony here to have a look

Got a better look and I'd say the lil place where the blk is is the vent. You need to make sure this little on is pooping but sounds like from all you have described it is acting as normal as the rest.
