I was wondering if a few other people can give me their opinion on bird netting over their run or just use chicken wire. The reason why I ask it I am planning on adding to my flock and I need a bigger coop and run. As of right now I use chicken wire and I have no problems. Just want to kno pros and cons. I do live in southwest Iowa so their are hawk, owls, fox, coyotes around and farm cats. Also what brand of wire or netting do you use if possible.

Thank you to any one who do respond.

I have only used chicken wire, but could see the advantages of netting--it's a lot lighter. Chicken wire has worked great on all my other runs also, and I would worry that flighty hens could get tangled in netting. I buy my chicken wire from a local feed store; not sure of brand.

Its been known for wild birds to get tangled in the light netting used over runs resulting in the bird dying or even the chickens getting hold of said bird and killing it themselves
