Cream Legbar or Mutt? getting ripped off? please help. - Page 2

Hope it all works out for you. It sounds like you've got some good leads.  Many or most of these breed club officers are quite busy with their "real job," so it can sometimes take some time for them to answer e-mails.  In the world of quality poultry, patience is essential.  Don't be too concerned if you don't get a reply right away.

Sometimes roosters have poor fertility really early in the season, so if you're having fertility issues with shipped eggs it may not be from the shipping.  It may just be the way nature is set up.  I had a zero fertility rate in early February with my Red Dorkings several years ago. I was really concerned about my roosters.  Then in March fertility was excellent.

Glad you found a good lead! Had a similar thing when I was trying to find blue australorps. Got all excited there was someone advertising eggs localy but when he sent me a photo the rooster had feathered legs yikes. In the end I went with shipped eggs and 24 eggs later ended up with just three hatching. So yeah it's a bit hit and miss when they are posted.

I just told him nicely I wanted to be sure and know exactly where they were coming from. I have researched and wanted these birds long enough.. Might as well wait a little longer for eggs that I am positive are coming from the best stock I can find. AND, Lord willing, I may blessed with my first 2 or 3 CLB's from Brinkhaven acres on or around January 30!

You are smart to start with the best stock that you are able to get.

Sometimes things happen out there in the chicken yard that are not explainable.... You are smart to have done your research well!
