What will these chicks look like?

Hi everyone,

I incubated some eggs that were a cross between an already crossed Delaware rooster (he has some brown feathers) and a Red Star hen (Cinnamon Queen). The eggs are hatching right now, and so far I have 3 that have a light brown down with dark brown stripes and "eyeliner" around the eyes, 1 that has yellow down with eyeliner and brown stripes, 3 or 4 that are kinda yellowy brown, and 3 or 4 that are light yellow/white. Could these chicks be sex-link (brown down/stripes = girl, white = boy)? Also, does anyone have any idea of what they could look like as adults?

With both parents being cross breeds the color variance of young is measurable but rather huge. You'll get yellow, brown, red, white and any smattering of splash of any color in between. Some will have dark shoulders and others not....it's a huge list of color options though measurable a very, very long list.

I guess I'll have to wait and see then.

If you want to know what certain mixes will look like, try google images.
I have, but can't find any that look like my chicks except for the white ones, which I'm guessing will look like Delawares. Welsummer chicks look like some of my chicks, but I don't think that there are any Welsummer genes in these chicks.

If you post a pic of the dad, it might help narrow down which genes he has to contribute.
These aren't the best pictures, but the rooster isn't mine so I can't take a new picture right now. The red stars in the picture are the mothers.

Okay, here's what I can see. The rooster has one barring gene, a silver gene, and might be carrying a gold/red gene. The hens are red/gold and have one dominant white gene. Both have the columbian pattern gene. The rooster could have a hidden partridge type pattern gene, which is likely considering the 'chipmunk' chicks. There is no sexlinking for these chicks. You need either a silver or barring gene from the hen for sexlinking.

Red base color, you'll have to see how the pattern develops.

Basically the same gene combination as the first chick, but with the silver base color.

This one will probably look just like the Red Stars.

This one probably got the dominant white gene and the silver base color. It will have a white base color and white pattern, so you won't know what other genes it got.

Thank you so much! For the white ones though, do you mean that it will probably be a fully white chicken?
