New to byc

Welcome to BYC, some people use PDZ, some use pine shavings sometimes it is a matter of switching up the food you are giving them because that can cause stinky poop as well.

Hi and welcome to BYC - great to have you join us. I use grass clippings and dry leaves under the roost of my coop and it seems to work a treat.

All the best

Thanks you know this site makes me feel so welcome and I love that some other sites seem so closed off but this one is very open:D:)

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I use coarse river sand or fine pea gravel in the floors of my coop/runs. It's very easy to wash out with a hose. If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

Welcome to Backyard chickens - others have given the suggestions I would have made - so I'm feeling "speechless," for now.

Good ventilation and daily scooping of the pooh will go a long ways to keeping things less smelly. Every morning after my girls are let into their run, I go into the coop and use a small rake to scoop up the night's pooh. It only takes about 5 minutes and it sure makes it easier when I do a deep clean!

Thanks for joining us!
