My husband and I live outside of Plant City, FL on a little over 4 acres. We moved here to get out of the city and to become more self-sufficient. Chickens are part of that. I have four ISA Brown girls. They're the latest addition to our little homestead.

I've been reading this website since we decided that we were going to get chickens a while ago. Lots of good information and I'm so thankful because I have a lot to learn!! Thank goodness that chickens are resilient.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Isa Brown is one of a number of labels under which some hatcheries market their Red Sex Links which are laying machines. You should get loads of large brown eggs from those four girls. :eek:) If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. Hi and welcome to BYC. I'm glad that you have found this site useful in planning and keeping your chickens. I agree that their resilience makes them a little more forgiving than other animals! With 4 acres and a bit more experience under your belt, I'm sure you'll be a chicken farmer supreme!

Oh, I follow Florida fairly close. My trucks haul Florida produce out.

Actually I'm setting here with seed packets on the table myself.
Thinking about starting them.

I'm in Ohio...thawing my potting soil out right now. Brought in a
chunk while ago.
