Hello everyone! I'm Turken1964! Creative name, I know, haha. When i found out about this page, I got extremely excited. I love chickens, and I thought this would be an amazing place for me to make friends, ask questions, and learn more about raising chickens! I used to have six chickens, but I sadly only have one now, the one you see in the photo. It is a Naked Neck Turken! ( Heres more about the breed ) They are funny creatures, but one of my favorite breeds! She's a tough fighter, that's been through a lot, but she's still kicking!
So, I hope you all have an amazing day/evening/night (Whatever time zone you're in)! Goodnight!

Hello, from some hoosier state! Our hobby farm has Cayuga ducks, Ancona Ducks, and Black Jersey Giant Chickens. My wife thinks its crazy but loves them all anyway. Welcome to the site (I'm pretty new to this as well, just trying to be friendly and get to know everyone!)

Hi and welcome to BYC. I'm sure that you are planning to get some friends for you lone chicken, so I'll wish you all the best and feel free to ask questions as well as contribute your experiences on posts that interest you.

Cheers

Thanks for sharing a photo of your bird.

Glad to have you join us!

Welcome to BYC! What a cute little lady you've got there. :) Looks like she could use some friends though! Poor thing!

I know :( the good thing is that I plan on getting more chickens around easter! I'm super excited!

She is very pretty. Did you know there is a variety of the Silkie breed, called "Showgirls," (name applies to both genders). They can have completely naked necks or a bow tie of feathers near the upper throat. They have continued the basic silkie demeanor, broodiness, and coloring. Put "show girl thread," in the search box if you would like to see some.
