Hi! We got our baby chicks yesterday. 2 pullets, 2 buff Orpington and 2 Dixie rainbow. I didn't get to actually pick them out so I'm not sure which is which. There are 2 golden ones, 2 golden with a brownish section on their back, 1 black and 1 golden with black and brown stripes/dots. I think the last one is a Dixie Rainbow but not 100% sure :/

Pullets are the gender of the chicken, not the breed... so I can't tell you which ones are pullets until they're older. But I can tell you that the Buff Orpingtons are the 2 golden ones. I've never heard of Dixie Rainbows....Looks like the all black one is a female black sexlink.

Oh yes. I knew that pullets meant female. Lol. Sorry, I should have said that. It didn't list the breed. I was very confused when it just said pullets :/ I actually really hope it's a sex link. I wanted one of those. Can you tell I'm a first time chicken owner :p

Does the striped one have a beard and muffs(fluffy cheeks and chin)? If it does it is most likely an EE(easter egger). And I agree that the all black one is either a female black sexlink or an australorp. The buff ones are buff orpingtons. And the red-ish ones are most likely either red sexlinks, rhode island reds, or production reds. But I'm not an expert, just to let you know lol.

I don't see a beard or muffs :/ so still not sure about the striped ones
I think it's a sex link. That was one of the breeds listed so I bet that's it. Thank you for your help! I'm hoping in a few weeks I can take better pictures of the other and get some more guesses.

There are several breeds that have chipmunk patterned chicks. Are you sure they had Dixie Rainbows? Those usually only come straight run.

Yeah, they definitely had Dixie rainbows. At least that's what the sign above the bin said. He just grabbed two out of the bins. I didn't even see which ones. I'll try to run up to the store in the next week and look at the signs one more time just in case i misread
Thanks everyone! At least I know for sure which ones the Buffs are now.

These are what the bin of chicks looked like. I'll show these photos to the store when I go back. Hopefully they will know.

The buffs are easy, just plain gold throughout. The Dixie rainbows are slightly more red or chipmunk patterned, they end up with a bit of lacing and/or red barring as they grow and have quite a bit aof variety as they are not standardized or an APA recognized breed. The black one can only be a black sex link as true black birds (austalorps, jersey giants, etc) have a lot of white on their faces and undercarriage as chicks. My guess would also be that the last red/gold one is a production red, red sex link, or RIR pullet. Should be a very pretty little flock of brown egg layers.
