Algae was a daily battle. I am not keen on putting anything in the water to keep it "fresh". There was also a coating of scum in te container. Everthing is shaded now, and wit the cooler system,I can put blocks of ice,that stay cold all day. They loved it last year with one, this year have 3. Good luck with your setup This is my third year at my home in the country, but have been around them my whole life. Also my grand parents raised broilers and ducks for market. 4000 to 5000 at a time. My dad gave me lots of tips.
