My 5 week old chicken only has some wing feathers.should it have more feathers. Thanks

I answered on your other thread about your chick being possibly frizzled and looking at this pic now I would say yes it's frizzled with the feathers it does have. At 5 weeks it should have many more feathers than it does. I'm not totally sure but this could be something to do with both parent birds being frizzled. Do you know if both parent birds were frizzle? Breeding a frizzle to a frizzle can cause feather problems.

Thanks everyone. I'm not sure what breed it is or what it's parents are. It was given to my son when we bought some silkies. It would nearly be 6 weeks old now. It is a very happy little chicken otherwise

I think it is a result of frizzle to frizzle breeding - which can cause bald areas, and feathers to break off. His wings are weird with or without feathers, I wonder if the way he carries them is called "angel wing.", a defect. Beware of folks giving free birds.
