New to this chicken game :)

Hello All!

My name is Jacquie. I own a small property in the country side in southwestern ontario :)

Over the last year I have acquired and purchased a few chickens.

I started with a bantam rooster and Red hen, unfortunately I lost my beloved rooster Doodles to a hawk and now my first hen Hattie is quite sick.

I also bought three other Red's and a fluffy white rooster and small white hen ( I dont know the breeds).

The small group are free range and are an incredibly fun animal to have at our place. They are nosey, love being wherever the action is and always make us laugh. I had no idea how each chicken can have such a distinct personality!

I am happy to be on this site, I have SO much to learn and look forward to being part of the chicken family.

Hello Jacquie,

My name is Mary, I'm new here too. Do you think your fluffy chickens might be Silkies? You can check on the breed descriptions on this site. I happen to have a few myself.

Good luck with your chickens!

Hi Jacquie (and Mary) to BYC - glad that you both have joined us. The Learning Centre is a good place to start, along with your state thread (just type your state in the search box).

All the best

Hello Jacquie!

Welcome to BYC and the coop! There's a lot of great peeps here! Feel free to ask lots of questions. But most of all, make yourself at home. I'm so glad you decided to join the BYC family. I look forward to seeing you around BYC.
Did a moth know that the flame was going to change her life forever, or did she simply fly towards that heated embrace, knowing it would offer her something she couldn't give herself? In the end, the answer didn't really matter. The moth had never wanted the choice. -Joey W. Hill-

I set fire to the rain! Watch it pour as I, touched your face. Well it burn while I cried, because I heard it screaming out your name. And I threw us into flames. I knew that was the last time, the last time...I set fire to the rain! -Adele
