Thank you all for such a warm welcome. Yes, I have spent much time on the Livestock Conservancy page, and I've learned a great deal. My flock appears to already be growing and I haven't quite finished the coop yet!
For those interested in seeing pictures of Bergamascos (ancient Roman dogs that were just AKC recognized in Dec 2015), here are a few pics! Dante, our oldest dog, was imported from a fabulous breeder in Finland. Lorenzo, our second black dog, came from Italy, from one of the three families who originally saved the breed from extinction in the 1950s. Last year we bred Lorenzo to a ***** who also originally hailed from Italy, and we now have Remus, Lorenzo's son. Remus is merle, like his mother. Bergs only come in black and merle. All of our pups are UKC registered and come from award winning stock. I'm very much hoping our boys will get on well with the chickens, and help protect them from coyotes.
