Just an update:
This year I decided to leave the eggs with the mother and see what happens because last year I hatched so many geese that I had problems getting rid of them. At this point, I would consider it a miracle if a goose managed to hatch an egg on its own. For 2 years they've proved to be incapable and now I have 2 giant piles of rotten eggs which prompted me to update this thread.
Attn newbies! Even if you do everything wrong, you still have a better chance of incubating an egg than a goose.
