So I've completed my coop and my next step is finishing the inside. I've looked at a couple ideas for the roosts and wanted to get some opinions. The structure is 8x4,with 3 coops extending off the side. I was thinking of doing 2 roosts with a 2x4 running the 8ft length of the strucutre. They would be about 12 inches from the wall and about 18 and the other 27 off the ground. Is this good or does and anyone have any suggestions. Also this is a picture of the inside. Thank you!

Thats a good idea it sholf work. If your in a cold area id put a 2x4 on its side so when there roosted they can keep there feet warm. If your in a warm area you can use anything really. I use old sucker rods just because there everywhere here
 
A few thoughts on roosts that I've learned with my hens:
1. Put the main roost as high as is practical
2. Provide a "hopping up step" or two so they can easily get to the highest roost
3. Be sure there is enough room for everyone to sit on the highest roost. No one wants to be on a lower one.
4. A solid tree branch makes a good roost that is easy for the hens to grip.
5. Be sure you have good access to clean under the roosts. That's where most poop will accumulate.

Thank you for the suggestions, I don't know why it wouldn't upload the image but not that I am at work I can make sure it actually does it so here it is. The only thing I am trying to figure out is if I am going to make them run long wise or put them in a step pattern going up the far wall near the run door. Would it be frowned upon to have it on the same side as the nest boxes?

POOP BOARD is a MUST! I just added one under the roost that my 4 spend the night, it SAVES on cleaning time! I also read about the sand/DLM in the run coop, due to the weather here went DLM. LOVE it so far, must get a pic of our latest "upgrades" to the Run. Once you're done building, you'll keep upgrading & fixing.
 
We had a pile of old fence posts so I cut them with slat joints and used 12" spikes too nail them together . I ran them from corner to corner on both sides 18" apart three rows. I Used old eavs trought for poop rails which is the pest part. Almost no poop on the floor and I just scoop the eavs clean once a week. Ive played with the orientation of the rails and I have found that in my coop having rails on both sides of the coop works best for fighting and pecking order. Being in Ontario Canada the winter makes for more peking so ease of getting away is a must. Two in out doors, two sets of rails (4 in minimum) Two feeders and two waterers, two rows if egg boxes. Eavs trought is probably the best things i ever did tho hands down.

Took some pictures today....8 x 12 Run with dog house for a 'house', shade cloth on the weather sides & shower curtains on EMT 'rods' for those rainy days. Under their house is a tub with top soil for bathing, although they prefer to sit in it during the day when kept in the Run. I see that they've moved the shavings around in the house but not pooping so hoping they'll use it for nesting. Green is NOT my favorite color, just blends in with the surroundings :)
