Hi folks! New to the community and this will be our first year raising chickens as well. For our layers, we have an order in for White Chanteclers, due to their cold-hardiness and a homage for our truly Canadian-bred bird :)

We will also be raising some meat birds--leaning towards a slow-growth broiler (Sasso), but still considering the Cornish-X.

Looking forward to learning from you all!

Hello

and Welcome to BYC!

Glad you joined! Be sure to check out the Learning Center for helpful articles and tips. If you have any questions ask, that is what we are here for! Good luck with your chicken raising adventure!

Welcome to Backyard chickens. I think you would enjoy posting at "Canadians, check-in-there." Among others we have a lovely Canadian lady who raises chanticleers, as well as duck, geese, chickens, swans and I think a Llama or two. She has her own BYCthread called Jest another day in Pear-A-Dice." Her chants are bred to have very small combs(to prevent frostbite) and are hardy and good layers.
