Just stopped to say hello. We live in central Illinois... no not Chicago ;)
I grew up on a farm so animals and farm.life are not new to me. Chickens however was one animal we did not have(but the neighbors did)
Our brood consist of 4 black australorp, 1 cinnamon queen, 1 delaware, 1 araucana/ameraucana and 3 that I am not 100% sure what they are.
3 kids 2 house dogs, 2 beagles, 1 coon dog and Moe our American bulldog. Also 2 goldfish and a baby snapping turtle we rescued and are releasing when the weather gets stable!

Welcome to BYC and good luck with your flock and many pets. The simple animal husbandry methods used in maintaining other farm animals can be used to keep your birds healthy.

There are some really helpful articles in the Learning Center:

You might also want to say hello to other members in IL, they could be a good source for tips, swaps/shows, etc.:

It's nice to have you here!

Glad you joined the BYC flock. I think you would enjoy subscribing to the Illinois thread. Just put the name in the search box and it will pop up
