I HAVE 7 CHICKEN A ONE ROOSTER. THE ROOSTER IS 5 YEARS OLD THE HENS ARE 1 1/2 YEARS OLD. I NOTICED IN THE LAST WEEK THAT THE ROOSTER COMB AND EVEN ON HIS BECK HAS BLACK ON IT . IT FEELS CRUSTY. ALSO NOTICED THAT THE HENS ARE PECKING AT HIM , ON HIS HEAD AND ON THE COMB AND HIS NECK HAS A RAW SPOT ON IT. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO OR IDEA WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM?

Welcome to BYC. Is he new to the hens or pretty young? You may want to put something like betadine or Nustock cream on his wounds and bare spot to heal and hide them. Do you have mosquitoes out now where you live? Could you post a picture of his spots, just in case it could be fowl pox?

No he is not new to the hens he is the oldest in our flock he is 5 .We have been putting some antibiotic cream on his comb and neck. yes we do have mosquitoes. can you show me a photo of fowl pox?

If you can post pictures it can help. I can post pictures tomorrow on my computer. If you can Google fowl pox, you can get a lot of links ro read with pictures.
