Hi

I'm a new chicken owner, and that story is an interesting one,

My Chihuahua (Zaccy) and I (Simone) have had our chicks for 5 weeks.
We have 4 baby chicks, Breed and sex unknown. I have been a Google nut, and I think we have:
(1) (1) Long Neck and (2) Turbo are Lavender Araucana
(3) Speedy is a Salmon Faverolle
(4) Lucky, I have no idea.

I found out about BackYardChickens.com by Google and typing questions
.

Hi Simone and welcome to BYC - glad that you have joined us! Great photo btw - not sure what Zaccy makes of all these new little things running around!

If you check out the Learning Centre, you'll find a whole host of resources on all things chicken.

Lastly but by no means least, the members here are amazing - very friendly and helpful, so if you need an answer to a question or simply want some reassurance that what you are doing is ok, then post away - we all help each other out here at BYC.

All the best

x2 with Drumstick diva, when your chicks are a bit older, it will be easier to identify the breed. Not sure from the photo but it looks like you need to put some bedding on the floor of their brooder, smooth surfaces can cause leg problems for chicks.

Thanks for joining us!

I would love help with breeds and Sexing the chicks.

Here are the first photo's and in a few weeks we can try again.

Any information is great information for me.
This is Long Neck - I have felt the pink part on the head and can't feel bumps? this one is the biggest by far.

This is Turbo, love to be up high.

This is Speedy, this one will pick up anything and run, so the other chase her/him.

This is little Lucky, I pretty sure this is a female, but no idea of breed.

Thank you.

So I should fill you all in and the background of how we got these Chicks.
5 weeks ago it was raining and I let Zaccy out to the bathroom around midday.

He was gone a while so I went looking as he hates his feet wet. When I got down the back, he had a tiny bird in his mouth, didn’t hurt it just brought it to me.
It was Lucky she was alive and cold. I heard little sound to turn around and see 3 more babies.

Zaccy and I towel dried them and use a hairdryer too. It worth noting Zaccy can’t handle bath time and has a panic attack; he just wants his babies back and the floor with him.
We were just going to get them big enough to goes in the next door Coop, but we got very much attached, and built their New Home. (I’m now chicken crazy and want to make it bigger)
This is why, we know nothing about them, we did spend 2 weeks looking for who owned them and with no luck, and I think someone dumped them, which is horrible.
