So, in November lost a cockrel, two weeks later another, and two weeks later a pullet. All with symptoms of marek's disease. I'm not sure if that's what they had or something with similar symptoms. Anyways, I just lost the three until now. Now I have a two month old that started limping last weekend. She seemed with same symptoms as the other three. I knew that by this weekend she would be on the ground and completely paralyzed like the others.
At the same time I was researching Epstein Barr and treatments for it and came across an article about a study a doctor did with tagamet and Epstein Barr. During the treatment he switched to zantac instead of tagamet. In the study 90% had improved relief of symptoms. I realized that marek's and EB were similar as both are viruses and EB can eventually cause cancer and marek's usually does cause cancer tumors.
Knowing that the two month old chick was going to pass anyway I decided to mix some liquid zantac with some olive oil and some food grade dmso. If the mix killed her quickly it would be better than suffering. I started giving this to the chick on Tuesday morning. Everyday I expect her to be down when I check on her and she is still up and looking around and limping over to food and water. I dont know if this mix is improving her or if maybe she will be down next week. I will continue as long as she is improving and will be decreasing the dsmo dose by about half starting tomorrow I think.
