So, I've been a member awhile as I planned to someday get chicks. The day finally came on Friday when I went to our amazing farm and garden center to buy Easter Eggers. To my dismay, I found out they had to be reserved. They had so many adorable chicks there though, so I am now a mixed flock owner. Still get different eggs and I will be able to tell them all apart. =) We have Lottie- a Black Star, Dottie- a Speckled Sussex, Effie- a Brown Leghorn, and Eggie- a Buff Cochin. Effie was a week old while the others only a few days. They all seem to be doing great, and growing fast! I can't believe the changes in only 2 days! I'm super excited to start my chicken journey! They will be laying hens/pets. When they stop laying they can be "retired" and we will simply add a few "working" girls to our flock. =)

There so cute yes u will notice that they grow up way to fast but what makes me mad is that people buy chicks like that at tractor supply or something just for Easter and then through them out in the park or something to let them tend to them selves good luck hope u get some eggs in a few months

Congrats on getting your little flock! It's nice to have a mixed flock, I think.

Congratulations on your new little flock - exciting times ahead for you I'm sure.

Your country thread is worth joining as you will get to know other BYC members in your area (i hope that Ireland has one). In fact, the search box should become your best friend

Lastly but by no means least, the members here are amazing - very friendly and helpful, so if you need an answer to a question or simply want some reassurance that what you are doing is ok, then post away - we all help each other out here at BYC.

All the best
