Hi from the UK

I'm not new to keeping to Chickens, however I would like some advice on missing tail feathers as I don't know if its mites (never experienced them before), moulting or something else?

Only one Hen is affected, I haven't seen her or any other hens pulling the feathers out or any feathers in the run or coop. The skin looks normal it's not bloody or red and she's been like it for about a week. She seems ok in herself, eating, drinking, still laying and going about her business as usual. If it is mites can you see them?

I agree with Bantamfan4life. You might want to watch the flock one day to see what is going on. Sometimes they will feather pluck out of boredom or need for more protein. The birds that don't fight them off are the best targets. If she has mites your other birds would have them by now also. Do you have a rooster with the flock? If so he will take advantage of a docile hen - repeatedly because the others run off or fight him.
