Hey,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I am Scott and I am relatively new at raising chickens. We got our four chickens (3 hens 1 rooster) back in December and they have just started laying about a week ago. My son and I are trying to live more sustainably and eat better without going broke in the process. It is amazing how much food that is healthier for you is not too healthy on the wallet. So, we are also trying our hand at gardening this year. Anyways, I figured I would join and surround myself with people who are smarter than I at chickens. I have been a long time "browser" of BYC and have gotten inspiration for our coop from the pages of BYC. If your interested you can check out my coop build on YouTube at the No Budget Homestead.

Looking forward to learning and participating with Ya'll.

Scott..

Hi Scott, welcome to BYC!

Good luck with the chickens and the garden. If you let your chickens out to free range, watch your garden. I know from experience, they love to eat a lot of the same garden produce as we do!

Have fun, thanks for joining us!

Hi Scott and welcome to BYC.

The Learning Centre is a great resource, even for experienced chicken keepers - loads of info on anything chicken. https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Joining your state thread will also put you in contact with other BYC members in your area.

The members here are amazing - very friendly and helpful, so if you need an answer to a question or simply want some reassurance that what you are doing is ok, then post away - we all help each other out here at BYC.

All the best

There's a lot of great peeps here! Feel free to ask lots of questions. But most of all, make yourself at home. I'm so glad you decided to join the BYC family. I look forward to seeing you around the run.
