We are new tot he turkey thing. I got 6 white turkeys from a feed store. On the sign it said Non breedable. Why would they not be breedable?

Welcome to BYC.

Chances are the birds you bought are Broad Breasted Whites. They are an inudstrialized meat breed, and are bred for extremely fast and heavy growth. Females tend to mature around 35-40 pounds and males can reach 50 and sometimes 60. They are exclusively used as a meat bird. Some people will attempt to keep them as pets or breeders, but it is rare they will live longer than a year or two; and if they do, it's not usually a comfortable life. Most will succumb to organ failure; if not, their joints will give out and they usually need to be euthanized. Even if they live long enough to breed they cannot breed naturally and require artificial insemination to become fertile.
