Are there any breeds of chickens that lay eggs with speckles?
I'm just curious?

Several of my girls lay speckled eggs. My head hen, a RIR now deceased, laid a very dark brown egg with many speckles. Sometimes the Barred Rock eggs have them. This egg is one I got today from my smaller Welsummer girl-her sister lays a much darker one that is usually without speckles, but this one is so heavily speckled, thought I'd post it for you.

That egg is a very pretty speckled egg.
I just like the speckled eggs, you don't see those in stores.
When I was a young girl, I really thought that the hens had gotten with some wild birds that laid those wildly speckled eggs.
I wonder why no one ever sought that trait for eggs. They sought the different colors, though.
If you want speckled eggs you can't beat welsummers. I got mine from Estes Hatchery. [img]

Sometimes my RIR lay speckled eggs, and all of the eggs from my white cochins have been. I love them!
