HI! I've tried searching the forums but had some questions that I couldn't really find the answer to. I have chickens, and have been raising them for 4 years. This year we are thinking of adding 2 or 3 ducks. From what I've read it's probably best to keep them separate.
I've used an ecoglow brooder for chicks, will this work for ducklings too?
Do I need to worry about a lid for the brooder like with chicks? The breeds we've looked at say they are flightless.
If we decide to just get 2 is it okay to get just females? From what I've read a drake needs more than one female.
How soon would they move outside? Is it similar to chicks when they are fully feathered and not too cold at night?
Also we would most likely keep them in a pen and then let them out when we are around to keep an eye on them. Our neighbor cats do not bother the chickens but who knows what they would think about ducklings.
We are looking at either Welsh Harlequins or Runners. Not sure which does best in a smaller area?
Thanks so much!! Trying not to be too impulsive getting ducklings
