Easter Egger or Ameraucana???

What I want to know is if these guys are Ameraucana, or EE.

I'm sorry these are not the best pics, they wouldn't be still for their close up!



This is Big Red and Goose. Goose (the grey one) looks awful dark in these pics, but he is such a beautiful color. Would be considered a "blue" color?


This is Lavender, she is so pretty, but I don't even know if she would be considered an EE?


She lays a light brown creamy colored egg.

see, this is why I am asking. I have googled Ameracauna roosters and found TONS of pics of "ameraucana" roosters that look identical to mine. I think this is part of why I am so confused about the differences in the two.
 
A lot of the problem is hatcheries selling chicks as Ameraucana, and people think that's what they have, where did you get them? If from a hatchery then the are almost definitely EE. But the hen is definitely EE. Better close up pictures would be better, head shots and leg shots

I will try to get some better pics tonight, we had to build them a bachelor pad and we have still got to hang the gate, it's a major pain in the butt to get in and out without them escaping until then, so I was trying to get a pic from outside. I'll report back tomorrow with better pics!
 
The legs on the hen look like they may have yellow in them. Ameraucanas will have slate legs and white skin, no yellow.
As for the boys, I do think better pictures might help, but also, where did you get them? Like @Sunshine0235 mentioned, hatcheries sell EE's as Ameraucanas which is where a great deal of the confusion for this breed comes from.

Oh and I forgot to answer your questions.... They were from a pretty decent breeder in the area, he had a pen of mixed leftovers (they were from his last batch of chicks last fall) and these guys were in it. He said he had Ameraucanas, but all of this was back before I really knew much about the breed. Still don't know a lot today lol. I think he either knew they were NOT ameraucanas but told me they were, or he doesn't legitimately know the difference between the two. He was a really sweet old man so I guess I'm going to lean more towards the latter. It's ridiculously impossible to find real Ameraucanas i've discovered. It is really frustrating that they sell EE as ameraucanas in the hatcheries, I think that further complicates things. I would like to one day eventually have some REAL ameraucanas, although I do love my EE very much!

I have a batch of chicks hatching this week that were fathered by these two, so I guess they will be "pure" easter eggers lol

Yes, I forgot to answer her questions, my bad! I did in my reply right before I made this one.... Yes, the hen does have some yellow in her legs, I knew she was not an ameraucana, and I guess she's not even an easter egger.... maybe she is part EE or ameraucana? She has the fluffy little beard. I guess she is some sort of mutt, but she is really pretty, to me at least!

You're in Texas. Paul Smith, one of the most well known Ameraucana breeders in the US, is in Texas. I don't know his prices or availability, but I can guarantee his are definitely Ameraucanas. You may also want to check out the Ameraucana Breeders Directory:

Awesome! Thank you! There are several breeders in Arp it looks like, which is only a few hours from me! I did not see Paul on the list tho unless I missed him? Just curious as to where he was located. Thanks for all this info!
