My girl Grace, is having a bad day. She laid an egg yesterday just fine, then last night, laid a shell-less egg. This morning she is lying listless. She has what appears to be another soft shell or membrane hanging from her vent. I touched it; its attached inside her still. I don't want to pull on it. She's trying to expel it. She is in a lot of discomfort. This isn't the first time she's had a "miss-fire", but it is the first time the membrane has remained intact and stuck inside her. I don't know what to do! Has anyone had any experience with this type of situation? What do I do to help my beloved girl?!
 
When I first examined her it appeared to have already popped. I've seen her in the past lay a soft shelled egg, she tends to eat it immediately. I've also seen her pass a leathery membrane, such as the one dangling, but it never stayed attached such as this. I looked closely and its almost like a string stuck inside, with the leathery membrane outside. She is still uncomfortable, but she is drinking a lot of water and seems more alert. I'm hoping she can pass it..
