So along these 18 days i started outwith 12 eggs. Six buff orpington hen and american game rooster mix brown and six "americana" hen american game rooster mix blue i am down to 3 brown and 2 blue started in a homemade incubator was having alot of trouble keeping temps steady hubby bought me a lg 9300 and now temps and humidity have been steady i cant see into the blue eggs and im pretty sure only one of the brown eggs has movement cant really tell but the one brown egg we could see the chick practically dancing so cool fingers crossed i get one chick at least if not it will suck but on of my broody buff orpington hens hatched 2 chicks a couple days ago and i have another buff sitting on 12 eggs should i move some to the bator when this hatch is finished to make it easier on her or the eggs?

Lol i so went off topic well i filled the resevoirs to up the humidity im so nervouse and excited:)

Good luck!

And just for reference, if you weren't aware, the 9300s digital readout is very inaccurate. I have the same incubator, and I have to set it at 103.5-104 to achieve the proper temp. I hope you checked it with a calibrated thermometer and hygrometer before you started using it!

Please post pictures when your chicks hatch :)

No I didn't check this is my first hatch and have learned alot from reading these forums I love it here just wish I had read alot more before starting I thought it would be so easy I'm learning it'd harder then I thought but I do have a cardboard hygrometer/ thermometer I had for my reptiles and a digital probe thermometer from my reptiles I have in there to try and average the temp and hygrometer

So my next set is going to be 12 mixed breed bought local possible 12 RIR also local 12 from whole foods sprouts or tjs to experiment and some of our own eggs from our "Americana" and buff orpington hens I'm very excited for the next set as there will be more eggs hopefully a higher ratio of growers and hatchers seeing how I'm down to 5 on this set my odds of live birth are dwindling but I'm still hoping we are on day 19 we will see any tips before I start my next set?

Out if the five I had 4 were early quiters and the one I could see doing good dis .... Setting again in a week.
