Hello there So I posted a few weeks ago about our lavender Orpingtons, and two Ameraucanas :D At the time, I was just starting to have some guesses about what sex they were :) Now they are all 6 weeks old, and it's starting to become pretty obvious in some cases, but not so much in others :) It's no matter any way, for the record, the guessing is really just for fun, though I really want at least one Orpington pullet. So here's what I have, and what my guesses are-

Oh yeah, that's definitely a boy!

My money is on pullet. Her comb and wattles are barely developed, and she's very sweet and docile. If I'm correct, her name is going to be Odette :D

This one is somewhere in between. I'm going to guess it's a roo...but it seems like it could still go either way? Maybe it's like a 70/30 chance in favor of being a roo? LOL Thoughts? Could it still be a pullet or definitely no?

And then this one is also in between, but has less comb and wattle development than the other one still in question. I think it's probably 70/30 in favor of being a pullet :) Thoughts?

And then the two oddballs. Charlie is a Wheaten Ameraucana (from a breeder, not a hatchery). I'm guessing pullet, because the coloring is right, and there is still almost no comb development. Not going to have a great beard, I'm guessing, but it is starting to feather out. Looking adorable and awkward!

And this one is Scout, a Black x Lavender Ameraucana, though it's looking like he unfortunately has a clean face. It doesn't really matter, though, not intending to breed. My money is on him being a boy. It's just a guess, I know they're just about impossible to sex at this age. He does have a bit of a comb coming in, and he's always been very noisy and bold. So yeah, can't wait to see what happens!

Sweet! Thanks for the input, I'll hold off on the non gender neutral names, then :D Accept for Odette, and I suppose I could name the definite cockerel...possibly Jean Lafitte?

Awesome, thank you! Wouldn't it be great to get two Ameraucana pullets? <3 <3 <3 We'll see!!

Or you could name them all names that work either way like: Jessie, Aspen, Gray, Quinn, Sage or Winter. (I know, random

Good idea :D I want to name all of the Lavender Orpingtons French names, I'll need to look up some gender neutral ones :D And I can always rename them...it doesn't seem like the birds care one way or another LOL. The definite roo is probably going to be Jean Lafitte (or if I have multiple roos, I'll see which one I like best and then name him that), and the definite pullet is going to be Odette. Maybe Yves for another one...and then maybe Monet for the last one? Hmmm...

I do love all of those names, though!! I totally had a pet rat named Aspen :D

I love that idea! And yes, you can always rename them if you have to.
Thanks!
