It very well could have been "Sudden Death Syndrome" especially if you were there and saw the bird flailing around on it's back, or you found it dead on it's back...
I had a female peafowl go into Sudden Death Syndrome immediately after I gave it a shot of antibiotics, same dosage I had given it for the previous two days... Gave here the shot, let her go, she took maybe one step then flipped over on her back and died in an instant...
