Should I have grit available for baby chicks when using pine shavings ?

I've read that baby chicks sometimes eat their pine shaving bedding.

Should I make grit available from the start or can I use a fleece blanket to cushion their feet under paper towel ?

I know the fleece blanket sounds weird, but it seems like it would be a good alternative. I have several small fleece blankets that could be washed regularly.

You could do either smile.png

Lots of folks offer grit, and lots use rubber shelf liner, towels, paper towels, puppy pee pads, ECT. Just do what ever is more convenient for you, the chicks wont mind smile.png
