over mating? The white one was sitting on eggs.I had read that chucker quail may have to be seperated while mating..They weren't likethat yesterday.I had one more they pulled all tail feathers and back feathers.I haven't trimed the chucker quails beaks for a while. You are supposed to trim them every 2 weeks..They will never go back in their old cages. They have all been together for ayear, but this is ist time chuckars are laying and mating

how many males do you have? it looks like there were too many males for one female and yes, she got pecked too much. When you see blood, it basically means you have a problem. BTW this is a quail section, not chukar. <--not to be mean

The book says chucker quail, sorry.I have 17 in a 10 by10 pen, now 14.This is the ist time they have ever mated.I have taken out 3 so far.The white quail only have 2 males and 17 males, thanks to my son eating too many males while I was in hospital.Ive never had a a+m do this before.I read about this, they said they would start fighting at mating time.I will try to separate them to 1 male per 3 females.I also haven't trimed their beaks in a while. You are supposed to trim them every 2 weeks. It really worked last time, not one feather was pulled,as they cant grab them with top beak trimmed.
