When to take heat lamp out?

Hey y'all!

Our babies are growing so fast. Almost too big for the "brooder", I call it pin. I'm wondering when I take the heat lamp out?

Our babies are about 3-4 weeks old. Maybe older. They still have their down but I feel like the heat lamp is making it too hot for them?!

What are some suggestions?

Just raise it up if you can, test it out, if they seem to cold just lower it an inch. Th way I tell people at the feedstore is to have it at a 100 for the fist week and lower it by 5 degrees every week, so your chicks should be around 80ish degrees to keep warm.

Between 3-4 weeks old they need heat at 75-80 and a larger bin because until fully feathered they need to be kept reasonably warm. Some use a kiddy pool and fencing around the outside to keep them in.
