My chicks are 3 weeks old today and was wondering when I will notice if we have a cockerel. I have 2 ameraucanas and 1 buff orprington. Not sure when they will show different signs of a hen or roo. This is my first year raising chickens. If anyone knows some tips please tell me. Thanks!
 
In my expereince, the hens will grow there tails 1st and the roos will grow thier combs first. Also, if you look from the top the hens will look roundish while the roos will be thin and longish. Hope this helps!

I think i got a bad picture of the tails. I know it looks like a shorter tail but they all have the same size tail.
