when you transition the chicks from inside to the outside coop will they go up into the coop on their own or should we put them in there the first night?

glad to see you have joined us. You should post an intro under the New Members forum to get a proper welcoming.

Be prepared to place them in the coop at dusk for about a week. Or they will likely huddle outside.

A low light bulb in the coop can help them get the idea to go in - once they are inside you turn it off. It still takes a few evenings for them to get the idea.
