Hello all, I'm new to the page and to the chicken world! I picked up a few pullets from a reputable hatchery yesterday. I chose 2 Barred Rocks 2 Austrolrps and 2 Buff Orpingtons. I can easily distinguish the buffs, however, I'm not sure if I have any barred rocks. The two I thought were supposed to be the barred rocks are a golden/orange/brown color with one small brown stripe down their head with a small amount of brown marks on their wing feathers that are coming in. Any ideas on if these could be barred rocks? Did he give me a totally different breed? Any clue what breed they could be?! Lol.

Barred Rock chicks aren't brown...they are black with a bit of white marking on them. Here is a picture of one of mine when she was little so you can see:

I don't know what the brown chicks are in your photo...you might have to wait a 2-3 more weeks to be able to get a good idea.

Even if they aren't the breed you asked for, I hope you're enjoying them!

Your buff orps look very red, they are more a golden buff - wonder what else they sold you. If you can wait till 6 weeks or so, you can post photos at "what breed or gender is this,"

These are my "flock" I can tell the two lightest ones are the buffs and those are definitely a golden buff. The ones in the first picture were the ones in question! Lol. I think after a comment on a previous post, they gave me Production Reds (which were supposed to be barred rocks) as the two black ones I believe are the Black Austrolorps. They're also under a red light so that might change their color a bit. I'm still amazed he gave me the wrong breed since he supplies chicks to most of the stores around me. I'll still love the little chicks regardless
