I have searched far and wide for gluten free chicken feed. I understand eggs and chicken are Gluten free, however I wish for my daughter to be able to reach into feed bag and throw a handful into the wind without gearing up to prevent contact and breathing in the wheat/Barley/Rye dust. Celiac is a Manageable but Gluten everywhere! So I have finally found a local Mill that makes an Organic Gluten Free Chicken Feed, however minimum order is 1,000 lbs.! We have 5 chickens, if one was to order that much... do you think there would be an online demand to resale the excess?

Once you have 20 posts, you can use the buy-sell-trade forum here on BYC. There's a category for "Everything Else".

It's nice to have you here!

Welcome to BYC!

1,000 pounds of feed is a crazy amount! It would probably take my flock of twelve a good two years before they ate all of that!

I hope you are able to find others willing to split the order with you. Never heard of gluten free chicken feed before!
If the food is grain-free, what is the base of the layer feed?

Hello and welcome. Sounds like you just need to do a little internet searching and source some grains that are acceptable and make your own batches with whole grains. The chickens' gizzards will become well developed and muscular with consuming the whole grains. Good luck and enjoy your birds.

Hi and welcome to BYC.

The Learning Centre is a great resource, even for experienced chicken keepers - loads of info on anything chicken. https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Joining your state thread may be useful as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - just type the name of your state in the search box.

All the best

Welcome to Backyard chickens. You could put "gluten free chicken feed," in the search box and see if any articles come up. I'm sure others have asked for the same product.
