That's also why I use sand I hose it down on a nice hot summer day and open the windows and all of the doors on there coop and turn it over every hour and it will be dryer by the end of the day or the next but easily take a cat pooper scooper every morning scoop out the poo and put it in a bucket and put it in ur garden or just spread it over ur yard
 
Usually the time pine shavings are not the best is with deep litter method. They are slower to break down then other options.
 
We do Deep Bedding (pine shavings) in the coop, Deep Litter (grass clippings, leaves, hay & straw) in the run.

There is a poopboard filled with PDZ under the roost which catches most of the droppings, the rest just disappears into the shavings. We clean it out twice a year.
