Today is day 20 of incubation. I increased the humidity and removed the eggs from te automatic turner on Saturday. Yesterday morning I checked the bator (as I have done religiously) an they were at 100 degrees and 70% humidity.
But last night at 10:30 my husband noted that the temp guage said over 115 degrees. I think my two year old son went in and turned the nob. I don't know how long they were hot but he went to bed at 7:30 and the only part of the day that I can't completely account for his where abouts was around 6, right after dinner. Are my babies dead? I carefully candled a couple and didn't see movement. If it is a lost cause I would rather quickly clean and reset the bator as I have turkey eggs that my hen won't set.

there have been some people on here that have still have decent hatches after a temp spike I would let them go till hatch and see, the turkey eggs should be ok for a couple more days.

Thank you. I've been so excited about this hatch. 30 viable eggs when I candles on Saturday. This is my first successful hatch (that is, if they make it after this event) :(

they didn't make it. They were supposed to hatch yesterday but I waited to give them the benefit of the doubt. I did an eggtopsy today and found a fully formed and sized chick with the yolk still intact, but not alive. I'm so disappointed. 30 babies lost, so close to the end.

I'm so sorry that this happened.

Perhaps next time you incubate, you can keep the incubator in a locked room, because I've read other stories here about kids messing around with controls and spoiling hatches. It seems to be a common occurrence.

How are they doing?

Yeah, I've already made mental note to do this. I didn't even know he had been in there, but he is the only one who could have done it
