So I live in Nevada, and the weather gets up in the 100s during the summer. I ordered a black austrolorp and a buff orphington. Will these breeds do ok in the heat?
Thank you!

I've heard Black Australorps can handle heat - I don't know about buff orps. Most breeds can tolerate cold much better than heat. You could post on your state thread and ask that question of others. They would be more in tune with what does well in the area. Just put "Nevada" in the search box and it will pop up.

The Buff Orpington is the favorite in my flock. But here in New England when temperatures get cold. They are big and heavy birds that are capable of surviving below 0 temperatures. Im not sure about doing so well in heat because of their big body. But be sure to provide your chickens cold water outside 24/7 or they overheat or do not drink. Im not so sure about the australorps because i know little to no information on them.
