What is a good material to put on the top of my duck run? I know chicken wire is not good on the sides but will it work for the roof? My run is 20x20
 
Are you covering your run to keep your ducks in or predators out?The problem with chicken wire is that its woven and can be pulled apart (by predators). That's why you should use welded wire or hardware cloth around a run. The aviary netting in the link is advertised to have an 85 lb. breaking point and is supposed to keep hawks out. I imagine the rope is too thick for hawks to tear through, but if your worried about it you should try using hardware cloth. The 1/2 inch one is cheaper then 1/4 inch and will still be small enough to keep birds out with. Since you have such a large area and most rolls of wire are usually only 4 feet tall you can zip tie the pieces together. If this is only to keep the ducks in then chicken wire or netting would be fine because they don't have claws to tear through it.

The sides of my 20x20 run are going to be hard ware cloth up the 6 feet walls and then 3 feet up of the 1/2 hard wear cloth. And a foot into the ground. Right now I'm trying to figure out what I should do for my top?
 
What kind of ducks do you have? Do you have a secure house to lock them up in at night? Depending on what your answers are, will depend on if you need tougher topping material or not... :)
 
I have a 6x7 coop that has a 6 foot peaked ceiling. It's a old Tin shed that is fully insulated and solid. It's going to be inside a well build 20x20 run. 6 foot high all inclosed in hard wear cloth. I don't have my ducks yet. I'll be getting 1 Pekin, 1 kaki, 1 runner, and 1 Ruen, along with 3 buff Orpington chickens
 
So heavy and medium breed ducks... if you want to leave their house open at night, then I would go for heavy duty topper on the run... if you close them up at night, you can go with the lighter stuff... it will deter hawks for the most part, as they prefer to swoop, grab and go... but at night owls are a much bigger threat... they will study and tear through if possible...
