Hi to Everyone, I'm very new to Back Yard chickens. My husband, recently retired, wanted a hobby. Raising chickens. We have many chicks. Got them at two days old and now they are eight weeks. Two weeks ago I lifted a wood partition door to let the chickens run from their smaller coop to a much larger one. The door slipped from my grasp and poor Cinnamon got caught running through. It severely pinched one foot. I held her and cried and cried. She's been kept separately form all the other chicks. She suffered a bruised foot and now after two weeks she's doing much better and wants to get back with the others. I don't know if she's ready. She is still favoring the foot. Husband thinks she can go back. I'm not sure. Anyone else have same problem - chick with severely pinched foot?

I wouldn't put her back in with them yet. Any bird that is acting differently, or having some wound or problem attracts the attention of others. Like wild birds, the flock can band together to put an end to the victim. At extremes chickens resort to cannibalism.

Hi and welcome to BYC - you have some great advice already so I'll just say hello!

All the best
