The local feed store said this is a Cinnamon Queen. Can someone confirm? I confess that I'm asking because I want to determine gender. Apparently red CQ's are pullets? This chick is sassy and squawks like crazy when handled. The other chicks we got are much more mellow.

Looks like a Red Sex Link (aka Cinnamon Queen, Red Star, Red Comet, Gold Comet, ISA Brown, etc., etc.)

And yes, pullet as it is red with white trim. (A male would be coming in mostly white with some red on the wing bows).

Temperament is not the best indicator of gender. I've had sweet boys and snotty girls. Comb development is a much better indicator, but with the color coded sex links, chick down (and later adult color) is all you need to know for certain.

CQ pullet.

Thanks so much for the quick response. So glad she's a pullet. Wanna confirm another one for me?

Feed store says Easter Egger. It's early (2 1/2 weeks), and I know it's not as easy as the sex-linked, but I'm thinking pullet?

Yes, it's an Easter Egger.

That's not an easy color for telling EE gender. Right now, comb does not indicate roo at all, but it is only 2 1/2 weeks.

You'll need to wait on this one. Those colors need to come in better.

If they are patch work (like a quilt) especially if red comes in on the wing bows, you've got a male. If a pattern forms that is even like a kaleidescope, then it will be female.

Male pea combs generally have 3 rows while females have one main row and 2 small hedges on the sides.

But time will tell.
