I'm thinking I have 3 roo's in my latest 10 chick purchase. The Barred Rock I'm pretty sure is because of his non-dark feet & larger comb. The Production Red I have pictured is a lot larger than the other 3 I purchased. The easter-egger I just have no clue. Any help would be appreciated! They are all 4 weeks old if seller was accurate on age when purchased. :)

production reds are a hybrid/sexlinked bird the roos will look totally different than the hen. the tail feathers look rather long on the EE so it could be a pullet but they are notoriously hard to sex until they are more mature.

Hello all, I'm new to chickens & while I bought all pullets, I'm starting to think this ones a cockerel. What do y'all think?

since you got a mixed batch you just got some really bad luck, but most hatcheries have a 90% pullet to roo ratio when you buy 10 pullets so yes and no, you got different breeds so you could have just had bad luck in getting the 10 percent on the barred. production reds are hybrids meaning they have multiple breeds in their lineage because of that not every bodies comb will grow at the same rate, I had a RIR that had a huge comb at 8 weeks after that it no longer grew and pinked up at laying age and she was the first to lay, she still has the same size comb as when she was 8weeks oddities happen. the EE will still be questionable until it's comb grows and pinks up or it stays the same and stays light, another way to figure out the comb a little early is if there are 3 rows of bumps on the pea comb it will likely be a male if there is only one row of bumps on the pea comb then it is likely female.

Just want to point out, Production Reds are not sexlinks. They can not be sexed by color. Both genders are solid, medium red.

Thanks for the help so far. I will post pictures in the upcoming weeks if the combs, colors, etc. start to change. Guess it's just a waiting game for us! :)
