the oyster shell is the fix but you said you have some avail. at all times and so since you said she has been laying good for a few years I would say it is her way of winding down on her egg laying days, I assume she has slowed down drastically since her first two years, some hens will change their egg as they change into their older years some will act like a pullet again(in their laying habits) lay soft shelled eggs, fairy eggs, huge eggs, multi yolker, not even laying schedule, etc.
