Why would my turkey hen attack my rooster and wild turkey hens that come on the property?? I have three turkeys, two hens and a tom. The tom will tolerate the rooster and other hens, but this one hen despises roosters and foreign turkeys. Why?

Sorry if this thread isn't in the right category. I'm new to the group and I don't really know where everything is yet.

BYC has a very useful Learning Center well worth the time to read

I would ask you to go to the Forums Nav: and scroll down to Turkeys and look up Turkey talk 2000 to 2100 and you can also find it by typing Turkey talk 20000 to 2100 into the search box at the top of the page and you will find some real Turkey buffs and I hope you get the answers you are looking for

My latest addition to the flock and he gets along with the chickens so far

My turkey hen HATES the roosters, and they hate her. They will fight non stop unless I keep them separated. I have to alternate who gets to free range because they cannot get along. The chicken hens get along with the turkeys because they do not challenge like the roosters do.

Separate them before somebody gets badly mutilated or killed. You can't change the turkey's behavior. If she is the only bad one - have her for an early Thanksgiving dinner.

There was a wild turkey hen that roosted here last night and I think my hen and the other fought. Because today my hens' left eye is closed and there is milky colored stuff.

I have had problems with my rooster, and have him penned up most of the time.

Thank you guys for the help!

Also, how well to turkey poults and baby chickens get along? I have some turkey eggs in the incubator and should hatch any time now. And I have had chicks hatched a few weeks ago. I would like to put them all together once the turkey poults are a few days old. Thanks
