Hi, I'm new to BYC. I''ve raised chickens for about 2 years but a neighbor just dropped off 4 runner duckings one is injured and is approx. 6 wks old with a strip of skin torn from the outside of the right foot from heel to toe. 1/8th inch wide 2 inch long. Do I just use ointment, wrap, and seperate at night. I was told to spray Vetericyn on my chickens as it would kill 99.9% of germs. I've never had to though.Is it ok to use on this little one?

Hello & welcome to BYC. Can you take a picture of the duckling's injured foot & post it?
You're on the right track. I'd just rinse it with a mild saline, put on Neosporin (without pain relief) and wrap it. I'll tag some other members to confirm/give input.

I might not even wrap it - but rinse and ointment three times a day, for a few days, then twice, then once.

Only thing I would *maybe* add is soak it a bit in warm water with some epsom salts IF you can keep it from drinking it... good luck...

Hi, one of my ducks looks like it may have bumble foot. Started to soak with Epson salt and put Vetericyn on bump and put some on a gauze pad then placed on bottom of foot and wrapped his foot. Put him in a clean pen for the night. This is the first day. So not sure if this will work. Should I put triple antibiotic ointment instead?
For bumblefoot - there are some options.
If it's a very early case, you might try rinsing it off, then put triple antibiotic ointment, no painkiller on it, three times a day and especially just before bedtime. No wrapping.
For a further developed bumble, or in any case, you could try the clear (clear, clear, clear, not brown) iodine treatment. Soak the foot for 20 minutes or so (tub time makes this easier - no soap), then drop a few drops of clear iodine on the bumble.
Do nothing else aside from pamper your duck (wink) for several days. Talking, maybe 5 days or so. At that point, most likely there will be a dark scab. Soak the foot again. Try to pull the scab off. If the scab does not loosen easily, reapply the clear iodine, and wait several days again. The scab should then come off fairly easily after soaking, and pull a bunch of yuck with it. If there is still some stuff in there, rinse, reapply clear iodine, wait several days, etc.

I keep trying to attach photo but it won't work and I lose entire text. If someone has messenger or anything I know that I coiled send picture. Anyway, I don't know who's more stressed. Her or me. I say her as she goes from loud peep to full on quack. She but so stressed I put her back with siblings. The wrap stayed on all night
