Bringing chicks through airport security?

Raising some chicks for a family member out of state. Has anyone successfully brought 3-week-old chicks through airport security? Is it possible?
 
Not chickens, but we brought our cockatiels and parakeet through the airport when we moved a few years back. We put all three in a small dog kennel and kept them under the front seat like any other small travelling pet. I think we needed a veterinary sign-off of health and a fee to the airline, but otherwise everything went smoothly.

It will depend a lot on the individual airline, I think, as their pet policies can differ. IDK if chickens would be more or less regulated than parrot types.
