When I was researching my coop I wanted it to be as easy to clean as possible and I am very happy with the way it turned out so I thought I would share. I got some plans online for the coop and modified it. I put the roosts at the end where the big door is and placed a piece of plywood covered in linoleum under the top roost. (I wasn't able to get one under the lower roost, but it turns out my 5 girls all roost at the top anyway). When I go out in the morning I open the door, scrape off the dropping board into a bucket and open the 2 side windows for ventilation and that's pretty much it. I put sand in the bottom of the coop and it barely gets any droppings in it as my girls are out the door at the crack of dawn and only are in the coop to roost or lay eggs. If there are some, I scoop them out with a modified kitty litter scoop and I'm done.
I've had them for about 3 months now and the coop just doesn't stink.
On another note, I just purchased an automatic chicken door from chickendoors.com. Love it! Don't have to trudge out at the crack of dawn or worry about closing up at night.
