Help! My hen's comb is turning purple and black! She is about 2 and a half years old and and has been de wormed. She is one of 3 chickens in my small backyard flock. They are all ex battery hens and I have had them for about 6 months. I noticed that her comb started going purple at the tips about a month ago, and it has been getting worse. She has started losing weight but she still is eating a drinking.

Is it avian pox?
Does anyone know what is happening to her?
Can it be treated?

Yes it does look like frostbite but it hasn't been cold at all

Update: another one of my hen's comb is starting to turn white in the middle

Has she been mated with?
My hens get bruises up and down their combs and even scabs. This might be out of the ordinary that the bruises appear his badly, but it might be the problem!
If you have a rooster, then don't worry about it. If it is Frostbite, one it has to be a good amount of cold to get it on their rough combs, and second, you can
use coconut oil to prevent anything like that on the combs.

@CascadiaRiverThe lowest temperature so far has been about 12 Celsius at night, is that cold enough for it to be frostbite or could my hen just have a sensitive comb?
